I've edited the title to add the location, Black Barn Colliery near Pontypool.
Probably a sensible move, given that disused coal mines are notorious for their poor air quality.

Both drifts have now been sealed seems no more mining here although if you know the area can't see how they hoped to get much coal from there considering all the mining that has gone on on that mountain.
