My good lady is away for a fortnight, so I'm after some mine ideas or comments on my mine list, straightforward mines, no srt... both for sites I've not been to and those I have which may have changed in the last 20years or so. So, my ideas are:

Hendre Spar
'Fish'/'Dwarf' 'Cave'
Cae Coch, been to, and can't imagine it's changed that much
Parc 3 - is this no longer accesible apart from laddering down from 2?
Pandora Adit - I imagine this is fine, apart from the chest deep aspect.
Clwyd Mines? Stuff I've seen in Mr Oldham's book, Belgrave, Thomas Evans, Blaen y Nant ?
Llanymynech - in fact, that is a must do.
Cefn Cave - is that worth a visit?
Slate Mines. Maybe, although for me, they lack the geological interest of metal mines. Yes, there may be a fault or two, or a band of chert...
Brynfelin. Not been in. Noticed 15 years ago that the deep adit had been opened up.
Bit further afield, driving wise if not distance wise - Talybont.

Comments on these or additional ideas greatly welcomed.

Parc 3 - accessible from Parc 2 (some very minor ropework advisable but not imperative if you're capable of holding a muddy rope in your teeth), but not accessible from the outside world due to the fall inside the level. Technically it may be possible via Kneebones cutting, but that would be unnecessarily troublesome and wet.

Shame that. Used to be easy entrance through the pipe.

Bit of a hurdle over the gate.

If you head up to Parc, it's worth a look in the area above the no.3 adit to see the depression above the collapsed adit.

Garreg Boeth Lead Mine - not far from Hendre Spar Mine. Entrance dug by UCET - great mine with lots of potential. No ropework needed, but some areas have 2'-3' deep water.

PM me for details or contact UCET. Probably could join you..

Talybont: Wilkinson's Level is an easy walk in and fairly dry, deep adit can only be reached by SRT, although this is fairly novice grade down a 55 degree slope.
There is currently a bit more work going on in the lower section so please watch out for fresh concrete, shuttering etc.
Nothing wrong, I am just replacing some ladders with steps etc.

Brynfelin was a wet suit job last time I visited, and may need digging open again. Guess who dug it last time.
Mud is fairly deep and will pull your boots off

Hi Roy. I think I'll keep Talybont for the summer. Is Brynfelin worth a look, boot suction notwithstanding? Ha! did BYP on Sunday, and someone had moored a canoe in there. Might be an alternative to a wetsuit?

Cheers,

The adit at Bynfelin is a long crosscut and is interesting where it reaches the lode. Going right at the end reaches a collapse. You can get beyond this by SRT from the surface, but best part is the easiest. You can abseil in down the open stope as well, but there was not anything going off.

Going left at end is a bit of an explore including a chamber with a flooded winze if memory serves correct.

It is worth a look, but you might have to dig it open again. The portal blockage is really only dead leaves etc, looks solid at a glance but not.

Hi Roy, had a go on the stopes years ago, but got scared off by a big flake of rock peeling off. That was before you opened the adit up.

Off topic but a story came back to me about Pantywrach.
A local walked his dog along the minor road as a daily routine.

Nothing to see except on a Sunday when the stream always ran yellow, but only on a Sunday.

He should have noticed the same car parked just off the road and associated the two.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
