On Monday 8th Feb the fixed cable along the traverse ledge on floor 3 was de-rigged. This has been viewed as an unnecessary eyesore for a while and it was of little safety value.
The cable was removed intact and the owner can contact me for it's location should they wish to retrieve it.
At the same time a 15m 11mm rope was installed on the very awkward section of the traverse at the exit end to be a handline. This was attached to existing anchors with the maillons freed up from the cable's removal.
Unfortunately persons unknown have removed the rope and maillons already, less that 24 hours after installation. Consider this section completely unrigged for the foreseeable future as I'm not prepared to put another rope in so soon. Maybe the cable owner wanted their maillons back which is fine, but I'd love my rope back.
A number of old corroded anchors were cut out in the mine as part of the tidy up. 3 new Collinox anchors were also installed to fill some gaps.
This work was done in consultation with the mine lease holder.
Not seen the sun for months. Now evolving to see in the dark.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
