Anybody up for a look at Blaen y Cwm tomorrow night?

I don't think there's a great deal of underground, from the plan and desription a few chambers and some thigh deep water, but it's on the list

Sounds good to me (except the water bit)
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

Everybody OK with 6.15 at the Bwlch car park?

Also everybody seen the bit about thigh-deep water? My complaints department is on holiday so any protests will fall on deaf ears

I watched 2 wise men wander off into thigh deep water and went off to enjoy my curry & chat with Mark - biscuiter owner .

Any news? Reports ? Warm yet ?

Sorry I didn't make it, the car's done something odd, it's now slower up hills than the landrover and trailer! turning it off and on again sometimes helps.....give me some mechanical gauges and let me decide if a "safe" mode is needed. 😠

At last - and I can't believe it takes me two weeks these days to get around to uploading a batch of photos 😢 - some photos from Blaen y Cwm.

Corin, Llion and myself, wandered along the Rhiwbach tramway, and headed down the two inclines to the lowest adit. At this point Corin remembered he had somewhere far better to be, and with far more scintilating company, so he went home  Llion and myself aren't so lucky so we went for a wade through almost waist deep ice cold water...

Relatively small mine, main drag (with nice overturned slab wagon), leading to first main chamber with shaft to surface. Right went to an embryonic chamber with manway (blind ending), straight on went about 100 years to a forehead, left went to the second main chamber which contained a small incline.

Somebody has had fun with some lilos in there!

Sorry for the vague captions - not at home at the moment so don't have access to the survey.

A small working, but a good one for an evening look.

We did look for, but couldn't find, the Thomas Hughes rail mentioned on the survey.

Following up my own post 😞 Does anybody know what became of the Thomas Hughes rail mentioned in the survey? Either it's gone or we didn't look hard enough.
