I can't believe that we are planning our Thursday night trip on a Saturday 😮
This kind of forward planning can only lead to failure!

Anyway, it's a return trip to Moelwyn Zinc Mine, Tanygrisiau, this time to explore the "big" drop which hopefully leads down to the original lowest levels 🙂

Usual suspects will be in attendance, all others welcome. Carlin? Corin? Hymac? Skimble I can pick you up if required.
Any of the Eastern Division fancy making the journey over? :flowers:

The meeting place will be the cafe car park near the entrance to Tanygrisiau Power Station. Lets say 1800 hrs or thereabouts.

See you all there!

Count me in too. 🙂

A friend was lent an original Ferguson 20 Tractor advertising poster which he gave to a company to scan and print, file and copies but not the original, he was horrified to discover they'd chucked out the original!

Since the portal of the bottom adit is blocked the air down there may not be very fresh. Would it be prudent to lower a gas meter down the shaft before anyone abseils it?

I seem to recall seeing a picture of the blocked up adit, Thought there was some ventilation, either a hole left or gap where it had all moved? Worth a look first.

Not sure now if I'll be there or not now, got to make some couplings for a loco before the weekend. Don't wait for me if I'm not there, usual 6:00-6:30 meeting time?

Aiming for 1800 in the Tanygrisiau Cafe car park but I have an afternoon meeting with my Director, and the only way to get out of one of those meetings is to walk slowly backwards out of the office, whilst continuously nodding and saying "Yes"......
So I may be "fashionably" late....

Hope your better bud.

Was an interesting explore, not the first down there obviously. Not sure what we found, what it was for, or how it worked !

We had a few ideas and thoughts, but looking at the bigger picture and the whole u/g site , it made sense, then it didnt...

You need to ab it to see for yourself and come up with a solution to what went on there...Hard to explain :surrender:

Haha I tried to describe it but couldn't. It needs someone who understands the working practices and methods properly to figure it out! They have either worked backwards or double-handled everything...??! Otherwise it would mean that the whole of that stepped shaft was dug for fun! Weird... :surrender:

Hint....a dig is possible 😉

But you would need to be seriously brave.....and "suicidal" might be a usefull frame of mind to be in! 😮

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
