Does anyone know what these might be?

They are stamped HOWARD.CWM 2 and were found in Cwmorthin, found somewhere that nobody's been for about 70 years.

They are 'L'-shaped in profile and about 5" long with each side of the 'L' being about 2". If you look at the top example, its bottom edge has grooves in it and is slightly tapered, whereas the top edge is smooth.

Any suggestions?

Chocks for trucks?
The grooves would suggest they would help grip rails. Their length would dis-regard this theory though.
Only other thing I can think of are wedges for 'Greedy boards'.

My immediate thought was that these are engineers' angle plates. I'm probably way off the mark!
