I find the human race frankly bizarre sometimes. Are these people cynics preying upon naive fools, or are they just flipping mad? Have a look at the site. 😉

Can't be that daft if they are charging £17.50 and people are paying it.....

I think we are in Phineas T Barnum territory here.

I've been on "ghost walks" in York and Whitby and they were quite amusing and worth the fiver. The "Whitby Dracula walk" is also quite good because Bram Stoker did actually know Whitby and the places he describes are mostly still recognisable - and the image of the great black dog bounding up Tate Hill Pier and up the Abbey Steps is pretty vivid!

(i) Nope, I don't believe in ghosts
(ii) I'm certainly not paying £17.50 to go into a mine!

Going to their website some of their "ghost tours" are £39, so £15.50 is a snip!

I suppose a "professional paranormal investigator" has to get his cash where he can :glare: :glare:

A former morgue? the only one I know of is at west Tolgus which is close (ish) to the old miners hospital.
Only chimneys in that area though and no engine houses. Darned expensive do if you ask me. I wonder if it includes a bucket of ectoplasm in the bar afterwards.

Poldark mine also run ghost tours on a regular basis and seem to be quite popular. Dunno what they charge....

EDIT - Just checked, Poldark charge £12.50

Pretty sure the "formal morgue" with an engine house behind it is the Pengegon institute, a well known Ghost hotspot.
Although its frequent use for kids parties and other activities as well as recent rennovation work may have made some "entities" probably move away.
I have walked past the engine house and institute late at night in the dark and have not felt any eerie atmospheres at all..mind you if I met any ghostly miners I'd have a lot of mining questions to ask them....
Is it safe to come out of the bunker yet?

I imagine its a very useful source of income for cash strapped mining museums, so live and let live as it helps us too.

£15 at our local.

Having said, even the most stoic of us have our heebiejeebie inducing paranormal underground stories!

Not me, have been going underground pretty much every weekend since 2008 and am yet to experience anything I would consider 'odd'

But i'm pretty much a flaming screaming skull or nothing bloke in terms of the supernatural.

What a load of old tosh!

Well if gullible folk want to be parted from their hard earned ca$h I suppose they have a right to!

I for one would not bother going on such an event!

I don't know - I think someone with evil intent (or preferably two or three) could have quite a lot of fun spooking up the spookers!

I'm ver skeptical person but I do believe some pretty odd stuff can happen all over the place, I think it depends on how the mind interprets the environment and certain misunderstood factors in the environment such as electromagnetic fields.
But this whole event thing is pretty silly huh, I certainly widnae pay mair than a fiver for it!

I've seen, heard and felt all sort of things that definately weren't real over the years, but its usually after being in the pub for more that 6 hours

Althogugh that considered its also ended up costing a lot more than £17.50

It's a well known fact that certain wavelengths can affect the human consciousness, in the same way that poison, hallucinogenic drugs and various other things can.
If you believe, like some people do that consciousness is in itself an electromagnetic field then it sheds some light upon it.

This report from the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum is laughable.

http://www.somethingparanormal.co.uk/cleveland-ironstone-mines-ghost-hunt-report-7912/

"Rob suggested going in to the coal tunnel"

Might be tricky in an ironstone mine Rob. 😞

"Rob picked up on a man who was simply known as The Gaffer and he ran the air bellows to the main shaft and that he made a mistake which killed a lot of men"

Rob clearly didn't pick up a copy of Simons book about the mine in the gift shop (unless Simon missed the part where the mine was ventilated by bellows ?)

Rob should also have checked the DMM website for a more credible accident story to spook his mates too.
