I am a caver originally from Cornwall but now currently live in Yorkshire. I am looking at visits to cornwall in the future with the intention of exploring some caves and mines.

Only problem is, I have no idea which caves/mines are accessible down in Cornwall. I'll be based in St Ives when I do visit.

I can't join clubs because my visits will rarely coicide with meets etc.

Any advice on this would be great

Thanks

Caz

There are NO caves in Cornwall, unless you count the hundreds of sea caves; you could also include the various proper limestone caves, admittedly all very short (see old PCG publications). Bit of a challenge would be to break the current record for the longest/deepest (Boatyard Hole at Cremyll).

Check postings on Mine Explorer site by Carbis bay crew, they look like they would know.
Is it safe to come out of the bunker yet?

Having said, there are several adit systems driven from the back of sea caves. In every case, access would be better undertaken in a canoe in very calm weather.

The carbis bay lot are out and about most weekends and are a good bunch of blokes. They's probably do anything from a quick runaround to a pretty full on SRT trip.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
