I found this photo by AdrainP in the Geevor Archive Album, I'm not sure where this is but it isn't Geevor.

Adrian,

I used to work at Geevor and know the adit very well from past and recent access, this is not Geevor adit.

Interested to know where it is though...

You're right geoff that's not Geevor adit; and if it was why isn't the water red?

I think you're right Spitfire, Contact Shaft certainly not Botallack, nice historical view though.

...and whilst we're about it the photo in the Botallack user album Image 014, taken by ben88800 would be better placed in Levant, it's Wheal Unity Shaft.

It still doesn't convince me. The one major feature of this photo that tells me it's not Cligga is the geology. All the adits at Cligga where work took place in the 70s are driven in the granite. The rock in this pic looks a metamorphosed Killas with evidence of crushing and re cementing on lode, certainly an alien feature at Cligga.
I still can't think of anywhere in that area that looks anything like that photo, and the vegetation that low down... I can't see it being Cligga.

Surely if it was Cligga, it would be the entrance at Bottom level (That is where all the newer pipework etc is), and that doesn't look anything like it to me

Could it be one of the old county adit portals? before it was refurbed

I think we're talking about the wrong photo' Roy. The one to which we refer is of a tripod in the Botallack archive

You know Knocker...I think Youv'e got it. If I'm right , this is the section (inside the tunnel) that collapsed beneath the old C&R railway which warranted the digging of the new bypass.
I thought the ground seemed somewhat familiar, Lived in that area for many years and know the Carnon Valley well, especially that bit. I am still in contact with the guy that owns the land over which the river flows and the County Adit empties onto. I'll email the pic to him and see if he agrees.
Sorry geoff, I don't know how I lost that thread. Good show the other night by the way. Will talk soon about other things.

That is deffinatly Cligga.

You can see the buddles in the background aswell as the large rock/small island that is next to the end of the cliffs on the horizon.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
