I notice PB has added West Caradon to the DB which has reminded me that the above has a very good website at:

http://www.geocities.com/teammanley/southcaradon/index.html
The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Not your spelling in your post - the spelling in the database! Anyway, I notice I uploaded an image with the wrong orientation - a job for later!

"The definitive map is now in force and access is now permitted to the South Caradon mine site. However, this web site has not been amended fully to reflect this important change."

Quote from the website.

Not sure what is going on here as access was always not a problem for dog walkers/etc.

I found the ways into the workings but as I understand it, they are locked and access not allowed. ?

If anyone has any information on who the keyholder is, I would be interested in getting a trip organised. Can any feedback be PMed if likely to be sensitive. Thanks. Stu

I believe the land belongs to Rosecraddock estate.....if you get access I would be interested.

I am not too sure about the access arrangements as to where is this locked gate??? The adit that once came out on the dressing floors has been collapsed in (but access may still be possible by removal of stones in a hole in the drying rooms) Jope's adit is running / flooded. The only access I can think of is Kittow's adit up the top. I have ventured into this adit, the entrance is slightly collapsed but passable, once inside it is slightly flooded (approx 12") but then rises up to dry ground, I only adventured in a little way as far as a shaft leading up. I am planning to go further next time when I will be accompanied by experienced person armed with head lamps, not a torch.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
