Hi I am looking for more information on one of the Lead mines on Longstone Moor in the Peak District. I have a photograph I took with a drone and would like more history on the site. The map reference is
53°15'43.2"N 1°42'30.5"W
53.261994, -1.708468

That exact position does not seem to have a mine record. Check map for mines within 1 Km

Yes, that's Cackle Mackle Mine with its well-preserved horse gin track. I can't remember offhand what published material there is relating to it but I'll have a dig around and see what I can find, there's certainly some unpublished stuff in Doug Nash's records.

I think I have a couple of Nellie Kirkham articles from Cave Science at home that cover this area - I'll try and remember to have a look when I get back - I'm in the City of Virus at the moment, holed up in Bethnal Green Travelodge. It's so bracing...

I've just managed to find the article I mentioned, which is a slightly faded photocopy of documents in the BCL. It's Cave Science, Volume 5, No. 39, from April 1966. If it's of interest I'll scan it, as there is about a page in total on the Cackle Mackle area?
