Hello,
It may be of interest to members, that my Great Great Grandfather was Manager of this colliery in 1896. His name was Joseph Harvey and he lived in Dale Moor with his extensive family. He was an instigator of the continuous cable conveyor, or "Tramway" which ran coal to a wharf in Chaddesden, Derby.
I will attach a photograph of him, for the record. I will also attach an article which I discovered on www.healeyhero.co.uk/rescue/com/tram.htm
which describes the tramway, its history and use and includes a map of its course from Stanley to Derby. Also a copy of the Peak District Mines Historical Society ltd list of coal mines in 1896, listing my relative as manager.
I have been researching the family history and I hope these little details may help with the history of this mine.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
