It was for Nick Butcher, subsequent to his PhD when working for Dresser minerals, that we did the exploration work here.

I recall a film being made by Op. Mole about a lead mine through trip from the Wirksworth area, anyone know anything about it?

Yes, it's called Underground Journey, and is available from Dave Webb on DVD on his 'Underground Assignments' label - fabulous entertainment, with some genuinely stunning footage, especially the sequences in and around Godbehere Vein:

Thanks for that PW, I'm glad it is not lost, I recall a DCA conference many years ago when we managed to show a copy supplied by Doug Nash, sourcing a projector was interesting--!, I seem to remember we borrowed one from a local photography club eventually!!.

Dave has done so much for the Great British underground, he really deserves an OBE--

I've played it several times to non-caving friends of mine, and without exception they've been impressed and very entertained. The 'A-Team'-style caravan with the drop-down wall and hidden winch is genuine cinematic magic - as is also a tiny spot of glamour, as one of their girlfriends or wives (perhaps it was Margaret?) is briefly glimpsed before it's obviously realised it's meant to be 'mainly for men' ;)

The Titan film Dave made was also equally well-received by friends who have absolutely no interest in caving, so Dave is certainly doing something right.

Unfortunatly once they drove off forgetting to secure the winch and the caravan was no more
The lady in question is not Margaret but Janice Fern, the filmakers niece.
But the winch drum at least is still going strong as you went down on it earlier this year Phil.

Do they still have the cottage over there?

No we no longer have the cottage it now a private house and yes the cable has been changed numerous times along with most of the original winch, it now has a Honda GX160 engine but the original is a Austin Heally and we got fed taking two trailers around.
