I was up at the Hurd Low, Dirtlow Rake and Bradwell Moor area yesterday and noticed how close the Hope Quarry was getting to New Venture Mine. Not knowing much about the lie of said mine does anyone know if the quarrying activities are likely to open up any of the underground workings??

If wind and tide are right this week might try and get some aerials. They must be getting close.

Not very likely, the quarry is close to its final limits at that corner which is some way off the vein New Venture sits on. The quarry cuts the rake further up beyond Bird mine but I think they've been purposely avoiding the areas containing veins as the veinstuff is a contaminant as far as Lafarge are concerned!

Thanks Adam, I wasn't sure which way things ran. Some earlier photos I took of the quarry (not very clear) looked as though they showed "holes" in the quarry face but they could quite easily have been colour variances in the rock make up.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
