Worked by John Gould of Brassington 1889 The Ore mined sold to Edward Miller Wass whose family owned many lead mines in the Wirksworth and Matlock area including Mill Close Mine which he opened up in the 1850s it continually working after his demise in the 1880s up to the 1940s many of my family miners there Mill Close Grove MIne further up the bank side from the new Mill Close was at the rear of The Red Lion Inn Wensley which was owned by my kinsman John Longden he son of Moses and Martha Longden nee Flint Martha dau of my 5XGrandfather Abraham Flint of Darley Hillside.. Abraham a partner at The Royal Oak Lead Mine Matlock in the mid 1700s see Wooley Manuscripts for more details

John Gould was nephew of my wifes 3XGrandmother Dorothy Gould who married Thomas Hall of Brassington in 1835
