Hello, just recently gotten into cave/mine exploration and I am just wondering if there are any groups or anyone that I could join up with around the welshpool/newtown area?

Welcome! Shropshire Caving and Mining Club do a lot in the Snailbeach area and also Mid Wales. So close for you and some fantastic mines.

A lot (but not all...) of the Facebook-based groups are a bit dodgy and tend to do more harm than good.
Like snything in life if you do a bit of research and start with an established club or group you will soon find like minded people :thumbup:

Tend to agree with Phil on the Facebook situation, we find Aditnow is the only place you need to be to be honest just ask and there is always genuine helpful people out there that are more than keen to either give advice or meet up with like minded people for trips

If you go a bit further north, Wrexham and Mold area's have a few options and a lot more mines to explore. UCET would be my first thought.
