Doubt the next one will go for £35, never know though.

I bid £35 as was as high as I would go and was instantly outbid (£36), 15 minutes later it (or one of many) was up for 'buy it now' at £35. Go figure. 😉

If anybody is desperate for lead acids I have 110 brand new ones sat in one of Vanoord's warehouses waiting for me when I get home at the end of the week!

One of those impulse buys...

Not seen them yet but they're brand new, I know that much at least, and think they are T4s (they have top up holes).

I'll have one off you Pal .I've been thinking of going back down the route of old lamps for a time, I'm sick of the big willy waving super bright headlamps everyone has and always keep a daft bright torch with me anyway, if I want to look at something interesting in the distance or light up a chamber I'll use that, So much nicer to use an old Oldham of late and a new battery would be perfect.

I watched the auction end on my phone, as i had put a couple of bids in...went too high for me 😞 Was wondering if thats a good price ?

When last easily available new I paid £50 plus for one so £35 seemed reasonable.

£35 was good then 😉

Seems we have a stock of new T4 available soon though.... 😉

I appear to be sitting on some sort of lead-acid gold mines, as it were?

Oldham and distributors are getting rid of stock I think, in the near future they will no longer be offering complete T series lamps

Oldham discontinued the lead-acid battery early in 2012, the G series lamps this year. The batch of cells I've got my hands on I bought largely to support industrial customers who want to keep using lead-acid.

This batch didn't come from Oldham. I've not bee able to order lead-acids from Oldham for over a year now.

The L9 'cub' battery is a direct replacement for the lead-acids, they charge on the old lead-acid chargers but do require a new plastic battery top.

Apologies to people awaiting replies to PMs, I'm a few thousand miles a way at present with very sporadic internet access but will get onto all replies ASAP.

But briefly, yup, got lots of batteries up for grabs to anybody who wants whatever quantity. They are new old stock, dry charged, never used. I think they are T4 (have top up holes so they're not the maintenance free version) and like the eBay ones don't have fuses fitted.

Would £30 plus carriage sound about right per battery? If they're going on eBay for £36 I'd rather offer them a bit cheaper to people on here.

I have quantity of new lead acid battery circuit breaker type fuses and also new black plastic battery tops but believe they are for L16s. Loads of other stuff like stainless steel tops etc.

I am also offering conversion of lead acid rack chargers to LiIon dedication for £150 customer delivers and collects, these will charge either my own 4V series or Oldham L16

A while ago I experimented with an 'Ersatz' Oldham lead acid using an old battery case with the plates removed and fitted with LiIon cells, packing it with a black bin liner before sealing the top made it look very authentic, anyone would be fooled until they picked it up and felt the weight!

I struggled badly trying to find an LED with a low colour temperature that would focus into a tight beam to replicate the tight yellowish beam of an Oldham bulb however.

I might yet have another bash at this. The market is retro trips with young kids who struggle with the weight of a genuine Oldham battery.
Something interesting for me to mess with.

sorry... and I also have a quantity of genuine J M Clarke (manufactured for Oldham) electronic lead acid charger PCBs.
Please note that earlier 'ammeter' type chargers dont cut off charge completely when the battery is fully charged, the electronic type do. Therefore batteries in good condition will not require any topping up if charged on these modules, they will also last longer.
Basically same as your modern car. 'Maintenance free' is total tosh, its all in the method of charging.
