I haven't had my Stenlight very long but I am really pleased with it, however I am unsure of the procedure for charging these types of battery.

If I have used the lamp for a few hours only do I need to discharge the battery entirely before recharging or can I just recharge it even if it hasn't been used for long?

I appreciate any advice 🙂

Hi

No, there's no need to totally discharge the batteries, it's quite safe to charge it from partially discharged since Li Ion batteries don't have memory. The charger is intelligent and will cut out when the battery is fully charged.

If you've got more than one battery try to cycle them though so one isn't staying unused for months at a time.

We're going to produce an info sheet on battery care, I'll post up when it's done.

Hope that helps.

Brilliant, thanks Simon, just what I needed to know. I am never sure with these things and I didn't want to damage the battery. I am new to mine exlporing but I do a lot of drain exploration and the Stenlight is awesome for that. Thanks for the help!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
