I've got a stack of cheap (bought from a supermarket) rechargeables (AA and C cells). Normally I use Ansmann cells, but these were cheap so I thought they'd do for backup.

However on trying to charge them - condition charge and leaving it for 36 hours - they're not taking any charge at all.

Have read somewhere that you can give NiMH rechargeables a kick to get the chemical reaction going - does anybody have any information on this please?

Never tried this but apparently applying a 9v battery across the respective terminals can kick start the cell.
Only apply for a few seconds though. May take a couple of goes as well.
Would be interested to know if this works

What was the outcome, Simon? I've seen you since, so the big bang must have been Penrhyn!
