I would like to know more about this mine. The entrance and first part of it are on and under my property. It appears to head under the hill to the valley behind my house where there are some capped shafts. Not sure when it was worked.

Ray Fairbairn - Weardale Mines, and KC Dunham Northern Pennine Orefield have short notes. If you do not have copies of these books, I can get extracts to you.

Thanks for your response. I have not seen the dunham book yet. Half of Weardale seem to have lived in my house at some point and quite a few say they have ventured up the mine. If what they say is true, the rockfall must be relatively recent.
