Myself and a friend did this trip mid 2006. Found it shoulder deep water, very unsound ground and a long hard day. We carried 3 ropes - 80ft, 150ft and a 250ft, the latter to combine the last 2 pitches. 1st pitch was a pendule to get on to the line of the ladders. Tub still there but ladders and floors only just. Have a nice day. RR

Ahhhh me auld mucker - I should have had you along last night 😉 I may be wrong but I have a suspicion that there may have been falls recently on horizontal bit leading to to the top of the shaft. The first bit is Ok even though its just some stemples with a plank across.... then a solid bit .... then a hole to be stepped across onto a partially collapsed section with a big crack in it.. then the timbered section ( I called time at this point as me nerve had cracked). Does this sound how it was when you went ?

There never was much. It was always very precarious with some old stemples and dodgy planks.

The real horror, as I remember, started on the next level down.

correction it was the 2nd pitch we penduled, but the level after the 1st pipe pitch was so rotten we could not protect it, nappy changing time!

No pics yet Mr Squirrel, no room for camera gear with all the other stuff to carry.

There is now a safety line for protection on the bad false floor section leading to the top of the big shaft. Ready to start the big descent if anyone is free this Saturday ?
