It was worked by
MNS Mining
72 Darren Wen
Baglan
Port Talbot
West Glamorgan
SA12 8yn
But I assume the mining / coal rights
still belong to UK Coal ?

I imagine the mine is now capped and all traces of it removed ?

Other than the 2 drifts sealed after the investigation and the access road being taken over by scrub tree`s,everything else is as it was,but in a mess after visitors trashing the place.

Better coal than Blaentillery Tonto.

The Mining rights will have reverted to the CA if the companies licences have not been re-newed.

Thanks for the replies, does anyone have an email for MNS Mining and is it possible to reopen the drifts?

Best Regards,
Tonto

I would imagine you would end upin prison if you did
plus you would be liable for the bill from the coal authority to reseal it 😉

Guys,

Other than the flooding and possible collapsed sections would you think the mine is viable for reopening?

All the best,
Tonto

Sorry
You are not going to get a commercial opinion or report on here for free!

But common sense looking at it's past history,
they had picked the eyes out of it!

If you look here there is plenty of information.

But if you upset them they DO bite! 😮

The viability of re-opening would depend on several things,

1.How long is left on the planning, given the circumstances of the Gleision, many people don`t want to see it working again.
2.The take of coal available is large, with further extensions possibly available, but the viability of the Colliery will depend on the market price for coal and your chosen method of work, relying on power station prices is a big gamble considering the pumping costs involved.

Who said Colliers are volatile,lol.

Does anyone know the extent of the workings in Gleision, does it have many faces and could anyone supply a map of the underground workings maybe?

All the Best,
Tonto

Very unwise to consider purchasing a Colliery without knowing the extent of its workings and the remaining take.

East drift down around 700yds,worked to barrier of Cambrian Merchantile and nearing barrier of Llwynonn workings.

Main drift/belt drift down around 400yds,large take ahead, towards Blaenant.

The owners will supply you with a plan.

We're not all that volatile on the Welsh coal mines site lol just typical ex colliers. As Ty Gwyn has already stated good coal but down a long way and a lot of pumping. The CA might well hold a plan as well.

Do recall seeing a link to plans through here or a similar site; probably plans associated with a planning application.

Seem to remember some plans related to the incident report.

There was a plan on the Neath/Port Talbot council website showing the latest extension submitted by the Blandfords on behalf of MNS,but this disappeared at the time of the investigation into the 4 mens death`s.

There were umpteen plans on various sites at the time of the inquest easy enough to find.

Was wandering the woods around there today....

Spotted a chap in a hi-viz in one of the cabins. Mooching, or official?
