It might as well read, "South West Regional Development Agency have consulted some non-jobs in the council and have plans to paint the NCK headgear bright yellow, build some Midas homes and erect some big stainless steel modern art.

No doubt all in the best possible taste.......but heritage fudge and gingham curtains do seem to be looming on the horizon opposite. đŸ˜

Talking of gingham curtains does anyone know the latest on the iconic Holman's building? Last I heard was flats but keeping the facade. Pity it wasn't developed years ago into the focal point for the industrial heritage of the area. Then that would have taken foreward thinking.

the road closure had me baffled, bearing in mind I haven't actually seen that view since the late 1970s..

There is no road closure. The barriers are where Holmans works were.

Quite correct. Perhaps this will clarify it taken from the road.

Where is this big stope that the road is going to fall into?

The place seems quite a spaghetti of tarmac. Also, by Tredinnick's Shaft (near the college) there is some pretty serious steel/concrete working being done in a trench. It's either the footings for the world's biggest stainless steel sundial, or they are making safe something above the vertical lode below.

understood. I was a bit out of place, I'd misremembered the surviving building as being on the corner, which it isn't

It was, but they hacked that part off a few years ago now.

I must admit I don't remember any road changes. The back wall started at the level crossing (It had to be renovated to stop it falling on the railway track) and the buildings ran from there ran down the side of the road. The entrance for the redevelopment was behind the assembly building. I am of course open to correction on this particularly the use of the buildings.
I'm not sure on the current state of play as the developer went bust.

The white building on the corner (Which later became Camborne Joinery) was pulled down a couple of years ago - the road layout is broadly the same as it as always been - with the addition of some Chineese ganite pavements and Cornwall Councilsfavorite double round about design.

The site was owned by a company called White Arrow City, who oiginally planned a speculative housing development, with the onset of the crash this was kicked into the long grass and WAC sold the site to Coastline housing (Formerly Kerrier Homes Trust, formerly Kerrier District Housing), who were able to release the funds to commence a social housing development. Several months into construction (November 2010) the principal contractor went into administration and work ceased. In January this year Mansell took over the contract and work is currently progressing.

With regards to the rock drill North lights building, one of the apexes fell onto the railway line during demolition of internal walls, which led to all of the apexes removal.
