Did anyone watching Survivors on BBC1 last night recognise where the mine was that they featured towards the end of the show?
It was a drift, supposedly of coal, as the prisoners were going to be set to work. I think it will be on next week's episode too.

I quite like Survivors, although I haven't followed it too closely. No idea about the coal mine but has anyone else noticed that even after what must be many months (years?) in urban areas the grass is still neatly mown, hedges trimmed etc.

There was one episode a while back where kids had taken over a stately home - despite trashing the inside they had apparently found a mower and kept the lawns neatly mown :lol:

I guess it's filmed in the early hours of the morning.

Yes it's Apedale No4 drift, filmed over 3 days last Oct or Nov.
The Manchester gate was specialy made for the filming & is now in use but with the hinge now opening the right way!
The runner was controled by a sort of fan arrangment on the bank, that the stunt people supplied. This acted as a brake on the rope
This the drift looking down towards the akker ( yellow weight just visable) just in front of the Man. gate.

Edit - Just watched the clip & realised I've given away a bit of nextweeks plot - oops!

We inhabit an island made of coal, surrounded by a sea full of fish. How can we go wrong.......
