A friend called around a week or so ago to show me some documents he had bought pertaining to land in the manor of Bissoe near Truro. I took pics of the more interesting items and this is one of them.

As soon as I locate the exact position of these 'works' I'll post my findings on here. there was some other stuff there too which I haven't had time to peruse in full. One was for a lease on some land dated 1635 on vellum.

This turned up at the Shropshire steam fair.
A long way from home but nice to see it preserved and running.

Roy a good starting point could be opposite Perryman's Car Sales on the Falmouth to Truro Road. I use a fabrication company based on an old industrial site there next to the bridge. The site is known as Visicks Works, your Lessee is Mr Samuel Visick, possible link.

Thanks for that Knocker, nice engine!. I once worked for Visicks (as a fabricator) at the 'Foundry' as it was called, back in the early 70's, and there was a lot of old 'stuff' still on the site. The family owned (maybe still do) a property at the far end of the site which according to old maps of the area (1719) had a smelting works (blowing house) on the bank above Mellingey Creek. It's been over mumble mumble years since I was last over that way to just look around. Somewhere else to check out .... the list keeps growing!!! đŸ™‚

Just a thought Roy, you probably know this anyway, the Historic Environment Service has a Blowing House DB. They provided me with a print out for the ones around Illogan.
The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.
