things you can do thithout on a trip in nenthead or put simply the demise of the base of my rucksack on a rampgill trip,it dumped my flask/lamps/butties/and torches on a dry section thankfully.
luckily i had a belt on to wrap round the metal frame of the base to hold everthing in till i got out.

strangley its a famous army stores (remember them) bag from the 1950s the frame is solid iron and weighs a ton but its the comfiest bag ive ever had due to the strapping on the frame...it lasted me 20 years underground so i hope these vinal bags shaped like sausages can carry as much weight and still be comfy as im in the market for one.

I used to have one of those. I received no end of complaints from friends who couldn't fit it in their car boots alongside all the nice rectagular and sausage shaped bags that real cavers use.

I've tried. I have REALLY tried to get Mrs Patch interested in aditnow but i think I'm fighting a losing battle. She make all the right noises but when I pointed out Bograt's disintegrated antique rucksac, all she said was "see he's got the same kitchen units as us." 😮
Don't wait for a light to appear at the end of the tunnel, stride down there and light the damn thing yourself
