Can anyone please help me. I am currently looking to recruit a Mine Manager for a North Wales Mine. Job Spec Attached.
http://www.hendrecoed.org.uk . Thanks to DaveL for his help.

Our client is looking to source an experienced Mine Manager for a Mine in North Wales.
The successful applicant will demonstrate
• A clear understanding of the Safety and Health requirements of a modern mining operation
• At Least 10 years practical experience in underground Mining
• Qualifications that demonstrate the requisite competency to be appointed as the Mine Manager of a hard rock underground mine in the United Kingdom.
• Successful leadership experience in an operational environment with complimentary strong management skills
• A solid understanding of business economics
• Acumen for aggressive but structured problem solving.
Ideally the candidate will have some experience in the development of new mines with shaft access although this is not essential.
Whilst the company is looking to appoint a full time person to the role, as an interim position they will be prepared to make a short term appointment to suit candidates looking for shorter assignments.
In the longer term the company is looking for a person to accept much broader responsibilities such as overall Project Manager and ultimately Country Manager. As such, persons now working in executive positions in the Mining industry, but with an operational mining background, are encouraged to apply to for this position.
It is anticipated that for the right person an attractive package will be negotiated that recognises the capabilities of the candidate and the potential contribution to the company.

For further details please call Phill Jones on 0151 666 8923 or email [email protected] with your CV. Many thanks

I note the specification requires "some experience in the development of new mines with shaft access" - I'd guess that we're not talking about slate 😉

Hi and thanks for the interest. I understand from my client that it is not a slate mine. At this time I can not provide any further information due to confidentiality but if you are interested, please contact me.

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised.
Even so can I have a job when it starts? 🙂

Could this be where there is a job going by any chance 😉

Not quite the conspiracy theory implied

Gents,

This is not a guessing game to find out where the job is, although those who read the description closely may be able to hazard a guess or two as to where this might be 🙂

Parys was my first thought following the recent takeover by the Australian company.

And thanks Jimbo for pointing out that occassionally there isn't a sinister side to things; and not everybody is out to deceive, inveigle and obfuscate ;)

For the record, legitimate job offers for mining related jobs (like this one) are welcome on here

None of my business...but there would be a substantial £ capital cost involved in advertising this role on a Commercial Website - why is it that someone that has never posted here before, is not an active member of this community has never posted here before and has no interest in Mine/Quarry excavation can get free advertising worth hundreds of pounds???
This site has always worked on the philosophy of no commercial advertising except for a very few carefully selected links...

OK, well what's the majority feeling on this?

Are such notifiations of interest to people such that they can be tolerated?

Or not?

I see no problem with it at all. Quite interesting actually to see what vacancies exist these days in mining / quarrying - even for curiosity value.

And who knows, if someone on here gets the job, maybe he will want to hire some of us !!

I don't have a problem with it.

Dear all

Thank you for your interest in this position, it is good to see an interest in supporting a new position within the mining industry. The very same advert will be in North Wales papers and web sites this week at a considerable cost.

I was pleased to hear that this site you all belong to support placing candidates into mining positions and I would be happy to help anyone obtain work in this field.

I believe this site is a very good way of networking amongst the mining community. Should the position advertised not be of interest to you, you may actually know someone who could be interested and pass on the information?

Thank you again for your support.

Don't Forget that Mr Scantec will charge his Client 30% of the candidates starting salary for his services...(so something in the region of £12,000 I would guess...absolute minimum) If we help him find someone at no cost he'll be sitting VERY pretty won't he 🙂

So what?

I severely doubt that Scantec will fill this role solely from a posting on here.

But, I would imagine many people found it of interest. There's a working mine (which isn't a million miles from me) that's recruiting a manager. This is good to hear.

If Scantec had appeared and posted off topic, non mining related jobs he'd have had his postings removed and be banned.

OK there's a fine line between what is acceptable and what isn't. But I think a notification like that is quite OK.

I don't have a problem with it either.
Nice bit of lateral thinking, Scantec! Not quite my area of expertise. Hope you find an ideal candidate...and introduce them to Aditnow (with instructions for reciprocity!)
