The closest I've been to getting underground recently was working on a re-creation of WW1 trenches in Surrey complete with dug-out's and a short section of railway.

Trips of interest have been few recently since I am off to Texas in August and need to conserve resources! However Saturday found me near the Wash on some errands and so I took the chance to walk out on the bombing ranges to see how the target barges are holding up.

Not underground admittedly but nice to get some fresh air and a stiff walk!

NAMHO 2013, 29/6/13, Brynrafr Main Stope

A short but interesting trip into the main stope which had suffered a recent collapse leaving part open to day. Unfortunately several decomposing sheep made the trip rather fragrant!

NAMHO 2013, 30/6/13, Temple Mine

Quite a short trip but well worth seeing the remains of the power train from the wheel to the pump + a pleasant walk in the sunshine and lots of knowledgeable chat over the surface remains which nearly made me late for dinner 😮

A surface walk up Copa Hill combined with a look into Aldersons and Herberts levels after which I had to depart to make the long journey home. The camera was playing up a bit after getting damp!

29/9/13 Surrey Trenches

Another open day at the Surrey WW1 trench recreation site. These are owned by a military historian who created them more or less for his own interest. They are now being used however as research for a project to re-create a larger section of trenches as an educational resource.

7/10/14, Phillips Lode, Gunnislake Level

A holiday in Cornwall with Mrs T enabled me to meet up with Tamarmole and the Plymouth caving group for a well attended evening trip to these interesting sites. Unfortunately camera problems meant photography was cut short.
