riding in overturning buckets like that was common in the tunnelling industry into the early 1980s.... most contractors had a "man riding bucket" consisting of an overturning muck skip with the dodgers drilled for a bolt ( to stop them being opened ) into the 1980s... I first saw actual purpose-made man-rider skips around that time, painted white and with SWL marked in kg and no of persons, although they had been in use for long time in some quarters

Morris Shaft, Parry's Mountain, 1989. Drilled through on one side with a bit of 12mm rebar to stop it tipping. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Four people in it regularly....and everyone of them had a hand on the pin! :lol:

We did our bit for conservation by removing some of the crisp packets etc. that had been left in there before we added Zoe ๐Ÿ˜ž
