I am looking for a 1st Edition copy of this book.
If anyone has one for sale or even knows of a store that still has one in stock please let me know.
Kind Regards
Becky
Thanks in Advance

Just looked on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and ABEbooks not one copy (of either edition) available!

I suspect even the second edition is hard to come by these days.

I'm sure a third edition would make a nice follow-up to the much awaited next book 😉

Thanks for looking though

On that note, any ideas when the next book is going to be published?

It does come up on ebay sometimes.

Mike Moore may be able to find a copy eventually - click the 'Moore Books' link on the right of the page.

Any reason why you're looking for the first edition rather than the second edition?!

I have contacted moore books already :D
The First edition was A4 and the surveys were of a better quality then in the later issue....
I will just have to keep my eyes peeled 😉

Books come up from time to time in the strangest places.

Would always say try Mike first, but if he can't help as JnC says keep checking ebay. I have both 1st and 2nd edition Rhosydd books, the 2nd edition one was reasonably priced from the Ffestiniog railway in a book sale, the 1st edition came from eBay and cost less than the 2nd!
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Hmmm... there are some of the surveys at this http://www.aditnow.co.uk/mines/Cwmorthin-Slate-Mine/  including the 1884 and 1899 originals, which are fascinating.

Without wishing to impose, I'm sure Graham will be happy to upload the full survey! 🙂

Given your user name, is there anything in particular you're looking for...?

No, there is nothing related to my username. I am just interested in sourcing an old book.

There's not much of Cwmorthin that's particularly flooded, anyway - it would be a lot of effort for not a huge amount of gain!

Both books on Cwmorthin as well as Rhosydd are as scarce as hens teeth nowdays.

I am curious about this - how do you mean ? The original was produced basically using duplicator-type technology, with the exception of the fold-outs. The second edition was properlyb printed, and I re-drew the maps.

Identify the surveys in question and I'll happily post them!

Cheers

I've renamed my electronic copies of the various surveys!

The monotone 'Cwmorthin Slate Quarry Underground' dated 16/08/92 is what I consider to be the best version, although the three-colour version of the same map is probably better from some points of view.

I'd agree with you that the Second Edition maps are of good quality and I've always considered them to be 'fit for purpose' as far as navigation and exploration is concerned.

The real gems are the 1884 and 1899 surveys, although they require a bit more work to understand them properly - not quite wet towel round head territory, but close ;)

Becks - Speedycaver's surveys are worth a look too: they offer a different way of looking at things which can be quite useful for looking at some the detail.

I not sure you have as I have an A4 copy available - its on my website. Its as rare as rocking horse droppings and I paid a tidy sum for it
