No, just a wetsuit.

If you're gagging for it, there is a rope of unknown vintage hanging in a ore hopper in Hard Level.

Slight change of plan for Saturday morning.

Since some of us will be camping and others driving considerable distances the meeting place will now be the Kings Arms in Reeth for coffee and bacon buttys.

The pub is on the village green and is open from 9.30am Still aiming to meet at 10am or thereabouts.

If anyone intends to go directly to Surrender Bridge can they let someone know so we aren't waiting around in Reeth for you? Think everyone going should have somebody or others mobile numbers.

Ta.

The lengths some people will go to, just to avoid some neck deep water.

Get well soon Ed :flowers:

Rope of unknown vintage was put there by me, about 3 years ago.
Leads to stope workings on Old Rake I think just before the 1st World War.
Won't tell you too much as it deprives you of the exploration sense.
Watch the top though!

Cool. I'd looked at climbing the hopper a while back but gave it up as a bad idea as the timbers seemed wholly dubious. Had just assumed that the rope was tied off onto them. Assuming its not i'll take my kit and some ladders. Know what's up there, have the intrepid vicar's book.

Hi Simon,

Cannot remember which Wesh Mine it was although it was reported in a P.D.M.H.S. Newsletter at the time.

I am afraid to tell you that some of the smaller items the good vicar listed have been purloined by persons unknown before we got there!

The rope was belayed to steel so should be fairly secure, although as stated previously the top is loose!

Many thanks to Chris for an excellent and really well planned out couple of days in Swaledale.

I think I'm suffering either from lead or parmo poisoning so will get some photos and a better report in a day or so, but here's the video of the deep water section on the hard Level to Brandy Bottle Incline through trip, just before the Brandy Bottle Incline.

It was an interesting tactic you were trying there, lowering the water level by drinking it. 😉

Cracking Video. I thought you were in a boat for a moment as you were moving a long at a fair old rate of knots there.

I rather think that's why I feel as rough as I do 😞 Having consulted Dr Google I am definitely suffering with acute lead poisoning. And most other ailments and diseases as well 😢

Always blaming the mine water, I think you need to take a closer look at the more likely causes

Sound is very low, but the source of much amusement is Simons attempt to look manly.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
