A new event has been added to the Events page.

Event name: Swaledale Weekend Day 1

Date & time: 11/06/2011 at 10:00

Details: The main event of the weekend will be the Brandy Bottle - Hard Level through trip.

The trip is wet throughout so a wetsuit is essential, especially for the relatively short but extremely bracing neck deep section at the bottom of the incline.

Theres also a fair amount of crawling in shaley passages for those with dodgy knees.

There will very likely be the possibility of camping on Friday and Saturday for a few light ales. Details can be sorted out later.

The ales interest me.

The neck-deep water less so.

Neck deep on me ... or neck deep on Vanoord?

Its not really neck deep, more like chin deep.
I've set aside that day to take a nice walk on the moor whilst the others get wet.

That reminds me of an Olly Burrows comment:

"Don't worry, the water's only three feet deep.

... But the roof is at 3'6"."

I think that cost Simon a camera, something he tried to blame on me for a while...

Unfortunately my wetsuit seems to have been steadily shrinking since I bought it. Either that or my bones are getting bigger ::)

Optimistically added myself.

Actually, the question of water level is somewhat academic as far as I'm concerned - I've realised I'm not available that weekend.

In the pub last night (where all good ideas are formed) the current plan became.

Camping behind the Green Dragon pub at Hardraw in Wensleydale (only about 10 miles away over the Buttertubs pass)

Saturday trip Brandy Bottle Incline > Hard Level as before.

RJV doing a walk option around the same area for those who don't want crawls and cold water down their neck. This trip could take in the incline without actually going into the water at the bottom if anyone was keen to see it.

Sunday trip - Wander around Beldi Hill / Swinnergill area.
Nice scenery, with plenty of levels to poke in for those who want to.

Slightly crossed wires there. RJV is going for a walk that day but nothing formal. If its raining there's every chance it might just be around the pubs of Reeth!

Oops, must have been the beer talking.

Probably going to switch the camping venue to Reeth as it will be much more convenient for the trips, 'Parmo Night' and theres a choice of three pubs for afterwards.

I dropped the campsite in Reeth an email but they are already fully booked because apparently its the Swaledale Marathon that weekend.

Will have to rethink camping location now.

Think Chris was planning upon here:

What time you planning to be there on Friday night? I was going to come over on Saturday morning but could probably squeeze a quick night time trip in on Friday.

my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by
