Hopefully I shall be there, work permitting - apparently I may be allowed some time off in October.

Simply - do you want some 9" spikes welding onto the gate frame or was I imagining that?

Just a bump for this ahead of the weekend.

I should be getting the gate lifted onto a (boat!) trailer tomorrow morning and have it in Blaenau just before 10am on Saturday, whereupon it will be whisked up to the adit by someone armed with low-ratio - otherwise the Freelander will need a gearbox change halfway up!

Forecast is pretty normal for Blaenau Ffestiniog, ie rain. Rather windy too, which doesn't bode well for my TV aerial... :(

The gate, for those who've not seen the pics so far, looks like this:

Wot no spikes Vanoord 😢

I would volunteer to lend a hand (or two) this weekend, but unfortunately I'm working 😢 😢
However, I will be available for at least one day of the second weekend, if needed 🙂
Madness takes its toll, please carry exact change

Things not to do, Part 1: tow a big trailer through a small village on the evening of the annual fair! Cars parked everywhere on both sides of the road, children in the road, diversions that are too tight to get around, vigilant police... you name it! Still, the tactic is simple: I ain't reversing ;)

Anyway, it's tucked up nice and safe now, under the watchful eye of the cat:

Just downloaded a few pics off the camera, several of Simply trying to set fire to himself. Shall pop them up later :)

Much respect and thanks are due to those of you who have braved the weather this weekend: I recovered my coat from the car this morning and have no idea how the pockets on the inside got so soaking wet - and I had sneaked off early yesterday, to get the trailer back (just in time for the arrival of a boat or two).

Some pics from Saturday morning, before I slunk off to drier parts...

Many thanks to all that turned up everyone put allot of hard work in, and all the jobs that we wanted to finish were.

Thanks again to Vanoord for building the gate and transporting it to site.

Am I correct in thinking that the mid-November weekend will not be happening now?
