Is it possible to add a description of a mine site to a mine entry added by another member, the description being left vacant?

As no one else has taken this up I will.

You could write out your description and PM or email it to the Regional Editor for the area. There really should be a list, but I could do Wales without treading on anyone else's feet.

Alternatively, you could post it to this thread for comment and if everyone is happy, I will put it where it belongs.

This is a good suggestion, I know from a deep, personal experience of trying to find a mine entrance in Yorkshire, how difficult this can be!
In fact I had got to the stage of believing that the original mine entrance, which was blocked up near a major road, had an inner door somewhere concealed in the blockage, which this old man could not find!
Only when Colonel Mustard gave me a PM, then we found the more recent mine’s entrance.

Then write out your description in this thread and someone will probably be so kind as to put it where it needs to go.
Be sure to name the mine.

Thanks Roy. I have contacted the Australian editor and he has now posted my description of the Beaconsfield Mine.

The Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre is a superb visit.

I have recently acquired an old copy of underground in Furness.
I have never visited the area, but the late Eric Holland’s descriptions of the sites, mines and caves are excellent.
Even to stating where, you should, put the 50 ft of ladder required to go down a said mine or pothole.
Whilst I do not think at the present time such a detailed description is desirable, for reasons, that have been aired on this site fairly recently,
There is clearly, in my opinion room for a little more description than we normally get

Re Newquay Consols - the entry is describing Newquay Silver and Lead Mine up on Mount Wise Newquay.
Newquay Consols/Wheal Providence/North Wheal Providence/ Fistral Mine - see Hamilton Jenkin Mines and Miners of Cornwall, Perranporth to Newquay P46 - on the verge of the low cliff near the centre of Fistral Beach. Also Dines page 438.
Thanks.
