This was taken when the owners of Settlingstone Mine reopened it.The man at the level mouth is I think Maurice Nichol, and the chap in the centre is "Sky" Marshall. One of the ponies from Settlingstones was brought over and promptly ran away. This seemed to be a almost daily occurance. The venture was not a success

The Settlingstones lads worked another at Mohopehead about the same time as Coalcleugh.
The guy in the Level mouth looks a bit small for Maurice, but I suppose he'd only be a lad then.
There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those that understand binary and those that do not!

The only other mine worked in the Mohopehead area was longcleugh,I Think, which if it is the one you mean was worked years after Longcleugh

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
