whilst not wanting to broadcast it, this mine was dug out by a few close members of our group.
My assessment of it, was it is a trial, to try and locate the Vein which is pretty obvious on the opposite side of the burn, where unfortunately, no real entrance to the Vein can be seen.
As far as I could see the lead miners were pretty unfortunate in finding little or no mineralisation inside.
Incidentally the Beldon site had one of the first Boulton and Watt engines, on site.

From geological resources I've read it was cut off by either burntshield haugh vein or old Sheldon vein as it crosses the burn near here. A long drive for nothing of interest, reminds me of hawksike in rookhope.
