Sorry if this post turns up twice, I had to re write it as there seems to have been a problem!

Anyway, I was having a look at the surface buildings of this mine at the weekend and after looking at pictures on this site of the underground parts, I would love to have a look myself.

The only adit I found was a one just above the burn next to a newish looking stone shed.

I was wondering if this is the main entrance or have I missed other adits?
Any help would be appreciated as I am a novice at all this. Thanks 🙂

I think we can expect Lord Allendale to permanently seal this mine up in the not too distant future. Posting pictures on websites and discussing access on forums is going to close this place to everyone !

Whatever happened to discretion ??

Sorry, I didn't realise things were like that. I'll keep my mouth shut from now on. Hope I haven't caused any problems. Its just that I have seen other folk on here asking about mine details and getting answers and honestly didn't think it would be a problem. As for posting photos, I don't see why that is a problem, I mean, there are loads of pictures of mines on this site uploaded by lots of people. Again, really sorry if I have done anything wrong.

Has there been trouble with this mine in the past that would cause the lord to want to seal the place

The Allendale Estate allow no access whatsoever to mine workings on their land. Anyone caught doing so is likely to feel the sharp end of a gamekeepers boot.

How are people supposed to know that when there are photos of the mine up on this site its not like there is a list of mine that we can not talk about or upload photos or share info with each other i always thought that this site was to share info around

That is exactly what I am doing.

Allendale is not Nenthead. If the land agents for the Allendale Estate suspect unauthorised access has occured, they will seek to limit all potential liability to the estate by spending a couple of hundred quid on a days hire of a JCB. Goodbye mine.
