I will be visiting Mallorca in a short while.. I know there are caves.. anyone aware of any mines or quarries?

Las cuevas del Drach (the caves of the drach???) look inpressive. Being self guided I shouldn't think there's much of a problem with photography. If so would it be good to post them on this site?

Hi all
I spent an interesting week in mallorca. No coal mines... locals would hear me ask "?Hay minas de carbon circa a Alaro". But it would seem that none of the locals knew about any coal mines... even though they definatly existed as I also askedthe guide of "Coves de Campanet". On an upper side... we managed to see several lovely caves, and visit a few limestone quarries across the island.. as well as the usual holiday stuff.
Photos weren't allowed in "Cuevos del Drach" but since everyone else was taking pics.. I decided to take a few.. though I wont upload them due to the upsetting it may caose to "cuevas del drach".
Coves del Campanet are amazing.. and I seriously reccomend visiting. The guide was accurate, and didn't believe that "This stalagtite looks like a dead cat" stuff... and the formations are amazing and well lt.. and it's partially self guided.
I may be getting interested in caves.. or at least ones in warmer countries.

I was actually only joking. I've done a little caving myself and I have nothing against caves or cavers! I know that there are spectacular sites and formations to be seen in caves, formidable technical challenges and that a lot involve very technical SRT.

But caving is extremely well covered on other internet sites, and this site is about mines, mining exploration and mining history / IA as well as photography, recording, preservation etc. Anybody with an interest in any of those is extremely welcome here, whether they go underground or not, or whether they also go caving or not!

I think UK Caving would be a candidate for building something like that; they did have a gallery which they're intending to bring back at some point. The coding behind AditNow is flexible enough to deal with caves, and the front-end could be rebranded, but it's too much for one person to look after, so I'll have to stick to mines for now 😉

perhaps 1 day there will be an expecially built society to operate aditnow and ME. I think one of the bigger differences between aditnow and ME is that aditnow doesnt seem to resize its photos as much.

hi, no I wasnt saying that - I was basically saying something about image resizing due to the size of the website (if they werent resized itd take up more space) and whether there would one day be an expecially built society to operate great sites such as this, rather than one person having to do it all...
