Dai the Pitmans uploads of very many archive photos have all been great but I have to say the photo history of the Senghenydd Colliery (Universal Pit) disaster is something else. Thanks for uploading and sharing them. :thumbsup:

I have to agree Carn, the photo set is quite stunning, its good to see the plans too.
EDIT ... I just read that an estimated 1500 dependents were left without a bread winner and that the fines handed out to the pit amounted to £24... making each miners life worth 6p in todays money...

The Senghenydd list of the dead is truly appalling. I had heard of the disaster before, but had not really appreciated the effect on families before seeing the names and those they left behind.
