Srr Francis Level, Gunnerside - Your going to get wet anyway up to your waist (maybe chest in a couple of places) Use a wetsuit and you will be warm at least. Short ladder pitch in which you could self-lifeline. Fantastic machinery at the end - see it before it collapses...

Further north there also Nenthead - Smallcleugh would be fine for a round trip with no gear needed.

I guess Alderley Edge would be pretty weatherproof. I think you do have to contact DCC in advance though.

Caphouse

have a word with them before you go, you might be able to do the through-trip back up the drift

Most mines are fine irrespective of the weather outside.

Moss Head and Spion Kop up at Coniston? You'll get plenty wet on the way up, but they're great fun and interesting.

The walk up to Force Crag in a howling wind and horizontal rain is the perfect way to start a mine mooch.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
