Hi Guys

Had a little trip in here this morning and wondering about the paw prints in there from about 80 yards in, they look to big for a rat and two small for a cat and I dont think we have any Coypou,s in this part of the country but that would be about the right size of print .

PS the water was incredibly low

Seriously though, must be a fairly new resident, I spent a lot of time in there a few years back & never saw evidence of any live stock.
Watch out for fishermen though, they blamed us for causing muddy out flow & reducing the fish stock. They seem to have some clout in the area, so be discreet.

Len has already made us aware of silt and the issues with it but the water was that low there was no out flow so no silt probs, as for the paw prints they are to small for a otter, but what was very interesting is they didn't go outside, and it would have been easy to notice, one thing for sure what ever it/they are they dont like getting there feet wet.

Take a photo of the prints next time your in there,as there is a big difference between a rat and a cats footprint other than the size.

If you've already spoken to Len, I'll not bother phoning him:)
Interesting about the prints not going down to the adit entrance.
Whatever it is must have got in through the old collapsed pipe vein entrance. It enters the adit above the first flooded shaft (on the RHS as you go inbye) & was very unstable. We brought the worst of the hanging death down a few years back with a couple of gingerly placed "encouragements".
It's still possible there's a critter sized route out to grass through the collapse though.
Not 100% sure where the original entrance was but there's a likely looking spot above & to the right of the current entrance.
I would guess you're interested in the pipe below the main engine shaft. IIRC the last person down there retreated due to poor vis & lots of crap tangled up in there.
Very interested to see what you find.

Too small for an Otter suggests Mink or Polecat/Ferret.
