The bridge over the river that's been fenced off for the last few months has collapsed. I've just been sent a photo (that I can't upload) showing that a narrow section is still standing, but most of the upstream side has slipped into the river.

This is the one that gave access to the garden. Don't know when it had fallen but it had partially collapsed Saturday 17/08.
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

As I recall the bridge was closed off for repair.

Might have been easier to take a crowbar to it.
Been injured while at work and are not to blame?

Get over it.

Its been on it's way down for a while.... 😞
Additional problem now is that when it totally collapses the flow of the river will get behind the abutments and the situation will get steadily worse, as is evident at other places along the channel. I looked into this after our recent trip to Wrysgan and it appears that GCC are only responsible for the route of the footpath, not the actual structure, and as there is another crossing point further up, don't expect it to be repaired any time soon.... 😞 The best we could hope for would be to have it taken down, in the interest of public safety, and replaced with a timber or steel structure. Don't hold your breath....

Back home   !! Went for a walk around Cwm, the bridge is usable with care, (probably illegal or frowned upon by the council). As Sinker says, it will not be long until the last bit falls and blocks the river. Is it at all possible to find out if the owners would give/sell the area of the garden to some group (possibly yet to be formed!) in order to raise grant funding to restore the bridge and garden to its former glory?????? I live in hope 😮

I went up to the garden (and beyond) on Monday (26/8). It was the first time I had visited the garden for some years. I noticed the top of the turnatble has now gone. I did look over the edge of the area to see if vandals had pushed it over there but there was no sign of it anywhere. Another artifact gone walk about. To a "collector" or for scrap?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
