Mine plans of the Milwr & Halkyn Tunnels can be seen here:
http://halkyn.org/en/history/mining/hdum/
But be patient: It takes a while for Google Earth to load, and a further wait before it zooms in on the maps.

That is fantastic
Can appreciate the work involved
But any chance of posting the KMZ or KML file
This would allow a full screen view :smartass:

It gives you a real sense of the scale of the thing when viewed from this perspective.

I too would love a KMZ or Overlay... pretty please!

I've been playing with this for a little while ( ๐Ÿ˜ž Oops forgot to mention it). It's good to see the path of the Halkyn tunnel documented at last.
I agree with Newstuffs, the KMZ would ne nice to have. :flowers:

Absolutely great! Fantastic work.

It should be possible to do the same for the Duke of Bridgewater's underground canal at Worsley (the maps exist). Oh for some time to do all these interesting things.

Fantistic, have been looking forward to this for a while.

Is this the one that you have been working on with Marc C?

Good question ... I had automatically assumed it was

Am I doing something wrong? I just get a google earth window on their page with no overlay, apparently no matter how long I wait. Tried on Firefox and IE.

Have you zoomed into the Mold Area?
RichardLevett

Yes zoomed into the right area and toggled the various options of labels etc. with no success. Maybe it's something to do with being at work, I'll try again tonight at home.

I can echo RichardLevett on this. Nowt but the untouched Googlemap. I opened it up, zoomed in to the tunnel area - sod all. Left it to cook whilst I put some more lard on the cat's boil and de-flea'd the dog. Still nowt.

Was just about to contact Cris and no doubt he would highlight my ignorance. Glad I'm not alone on this.

You have to download and run/allow to run the Google earth plugin for Internet explorer. I had to do it yesterday -but now I can't remember what I did! I may have had it sat on my machine already - or just downloaded it from the Google earth site - just google for the plugin. Help I'm googing mad.

Works on Internet Exploder. Doesn't work with Firefox.

I like it.

Superb. ๐Ÿ™‚ My Memory Map track based on shaft positions and other info now has a considerably more 'bendy' track. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for the comments.

We won't be handing out the KMZ file, sorry: Marc has more work to do on it.

We'll soon be putting a full page version (MUCH nicer to view) on the Flintshire Lead Mining site. Marc is working on a better, hopefully quicker loading version, possibly with information bubbles and photos.

Will let you know when it's up and running.

Works in Chrome after installing plug in. However, it appears you need to close and restart the browser afterwards before the plug in works on the site.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
