You've probably come across this, but in case you haven't - I only came across it last week. Certain areas of the UK - towns, cities and some National Parks can be rendered as 3D models.
Select Earth View
Go to (for instance) Dinorwic Quarry
Mouse wheel up to zoom in to max
Hold Shift + Left mouse and move mouse up
Still holding Shift, move mouse left/right - spin through a 3D landscape
There are a couple of foibles, such as when your viewpoint bumps into the ground, but very interesting and fun.
