On the 19th November 2011 North Wales Cave Rescue Organisation (NWCRO) responded to a call-out for a caver (male, 50s) at 11.15am who had fallen approximately 20ft in a rift about 200ft below ground in the Great Orme Copper Mine in Llandudno.

Glad the guy got out ok and it is a credit to the Mines Rescue service.
Having viewed the report thanks to Simon, it makes the fate of Alison at Galston, all the more tragic!
It would be nice to think that a copy of the rescue would find it's way to Strathclyde F.P. but because it is South of the border it just won't happen,

I think it should be pointed out that it was not the "Mines Rescue service" but North Wales Cave Rescue Organisation (http://www.northwalescro.org.uk/) who deserve the credit in this case.

I have edited the original post to make it clearer it was North Wales Cave Rescue Organisation (NWCRO).

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
