Lordy, I didn't think this was still here!

Somewhere, I was reading about a De Winton that was re-used at Penmaenmawr, but I fail to recall where it came from. Rhosydd possibly, but I wouldn't count on it.

Presumably this is totally unidentifiable?

No it is fully identifiable it is "Penmaen" itself of 1878. Ever since I found it I just have to keep going back, so photographic... we had a previous thread were a load of us just may go up and wax oil it this summer to stop further rot.

Ahh 'Tis a beauty that one, the crowing glory of a trip up to Penmienmaw for sure.

How many de Wintons were there at Penmaenmawr? Llanfair is now at Dinas on the Welsh Highland so there were at least two!

De Winton Locomotives delivered to the "Penmaenmawr & Welsh Granite Co ltd were:

Penmaen 1878 -In situ at quarry; out of use by 1943
Lillian 1891 -Out of use by 1933; scrapped
Louisa 1892 -Out of use by 1936; scrapped 1951
Ada 1892 -Out of use by 1931; scrapped
Puffin 1893 -Out of use by 1934
Watkin 1893 -Out of use by 1944
Harold 1894 -Out of use by 1936; scrapped 1951
Llanfair 1895 -Out of use by 1940; preserved at Welsh Highland

No seriously .... tear in eye here, I have often thought of Ivor over the years, it used to be on when I had my tea at about 5.40 in the afternoon when I was a kid..... never thought to look for it there... oh happy days.... TEMPUS FUGIT

Episode 3 you'll find .... I'd forgotten about Idris the Dragon living in Ivors Firebox, they are Dai the stations last words to Jones the steam ..... brilliance... sheer brilliance!!

Showed my daughter Idris.... first thing was "where can I get one"...

You can buy Idris's in two sizes from the Ffestiniog Railway shops in Port, Blaenau and Caernarfon.
