Ha, but if they were not money obsessed in getting the best profit, then they could actually work rhoysdd using more traditional methods, but this isn't really a mova for McAlpines.

Lords, imagine the Health and Safety implications of working Rhosydd again! No way will it ever be worked underground, only by open-cast destruction of the hillside.

Wnen I say traditional methods, I do of cource mean working with less tipping, better looking buildings and not to use enormous, dodgy vihercles to smash up the waste, as it will make a noise, and anyone walking up knict will be horrified to find a quarry in a lonely pass.

On the subject of Nyth-y-Cigfran.
I see that you can get thru to Oakley from this mine.
I presume exit from here isn't recommended as with other exits to Oakley?
Are there any access problems from the Balnaeu side?
Miles, the pics are on mine-explorer, thanks. hence the question.
Cheers

Yes there is a tunnel that connects the two, but it's not as exciting as it sounds. It's entirely isolated from the Oakeley we know and love, there being six floors of unknown ground between Nyth-y-Cigfran and the highest we've ever got in the middle quarry.

Access is fine at both ends.

There is (from memory) only really a few Oakeley chambers you can see, all pretty small and uninteresting, and there is no connection deeper into Oakeley that I can remember.

Now you mention it I think there *might* be a window into a big chamber coming up from lower floors, so bolting and abing that might get into Hollands proper. But there are a number of holes to bolt up there, we need:

1) a fine day
2) lots of swmbo tokens
3) Simon and his big drill
4) a looney who will do anything (Vanoord?)

It's not actually, it's well less than an hour's walk up the hillside from the car. A bit height gain tho. It's quite similar to, um, going to wrysgan.
