Hi All,

Anyone got any information on this mine engine on the side of the road near Wheal Busy (one the Todpool road)

I've had a look around Old Maps etc and can't find any names for it

And does anyone know anything about the one near by in the middle of the woods? is it on private land? Can you get to it to have a nose around? Any open shafts I could fall in!

Hi there,

The first one, by the side of the road, is the Killifreth mine 32" stamps engine house.
The engine house in the woods is the 50" Old Sump or Engine Shaft pumping engine house of Killifreth mine. Apparently the path to it was blocked by a hay bale at the stile last autumn. Don't know the current situation.

I shall have to have another look in those woods - looked pretty overgrown when I went.

I'll also look for that shaft.
