I've not been back there since the seventies, shame they demolished all the dry etc as it was all part and parcel of Robo's history.
I'm annoyed.

In my opinion the best proof (if it were needed) that those in charge had no genuine interest in preserving the mining heritage, purely interested in making their mark on the place, making a few bob and setting the site up for housing which Linden homes is now pushing on with..
this has been turned over on the forum once already though, praps leave it at that

Talking of boilers, there was/is something that looks like a boiler that was/is standing on end on the backroad between Cripplesease and Trencrom, you can see it in street view on Google Earth.
Does anyone know if it is mining related?

To view this on Google Earth:

Get Cripplesease up on Google Earth, there is a turning to the east off the main road, follow that turning, go past the first road junction and carry on until you come to a small hamlet, as you approach the hamlet there is a "Y" junction, drag street view to that junction intersect and head back West, the object in question is on the left just over the hedge, a big orange rusty thing.

I have now got a copy of the photo from google earth for the boiler, it's stored on my PC, how can I get this photo on to the forum for all to see? Can I get it into a post?

Managed to get the photo uploaded:

Select Photographs and search for Brunion.

Can anyone confirm that it is a boiler? If so is it likely to be mining related.
The location is just outside Brunion on the Crippesease to Trencrom road.

Could it be a boiler off a traction engine on its end?

It might well be, I know very little about boilers though, the location is in mining country ie Giew, Wheal Sisters etc. From memory it is 3 ft diameter at least.

The 3ft is just a minimum dia. guide, probably larger than that, the last time I saw it was about 3 years ago when I lived down that way.
