Miners Dry
Hi. I've just discovered this site and registered. I own the Miners Dry associated with Bennett's Shaft of Wheal Friendship, Mary Tavy. I'm just beginning to research its history with a view to constructive conservation. Any contacts, information, anecdotes would be most welcome.

A good starting point would be PHG Richardson's "Mines of Dartmoor and the Tamar Valley after 1915" which includes photos of the Bennett's Shaft headgear and the Bennett's shaft engine.

Mike Moore (see link on this site) will probably be able to sort you out.

If you don't fancy buying a copy there is a copy in Tavistock Library local history section. I think the library might also have transcriptions of the Wheal Friendship cost books.
